We live for the weekend

Not much to report this week. Both Randy and I are having work issues so we just count the days until Friday. Delaney is having some attachment issues at daycare where she follows her teacher around and has meltdowns when she leaves. She loves Mrs. Angela. Delaney will sometimes do this to Randy at home because she is such a daddy's girl so I am trying to give Angela some tips on what to do at daycare to distract her or make her feel better. Some of these distractions are: animal crackers, playing the hide and surprise game, books, or singing "Stomp Your Feet" or "Itsy Bitsy Spider".
We celebrated Nana's birthday on Friday night with the fam at Bonefish. The dinner was delicious and Delaney was quite perfect. She liked waving at other diners. She lasted the whole time but then got sleepy near the end (after her huge piece of chocolate birthday cake) and wanted to cuddle with Grammy.

We bought Delaney her own beach chair this weekend for our upcoming beach trip. She plays with it inside currently, either sitting in it for a snack or a book or pushes it around the room with her new horse Noodles in it.

Randy and I spent the day on Saturday at Lake Murray with our friends Mary Holland and Chris on their boat. We had such a blast!!! Randy went wakeboarding and I relaxed on a float. Quite a perfect day.

These next two pictures capture Delaney making very funny faces. I realized after taking them that the camera was turning on this bright red light before I took a picture which I guess caused Delaney to squint and get uncomfortable. I fixed the light so no future pictures will capture this face.

After the light on the camera was fixed, I was able to take a great picture of Delaney looking adorable in her outfit reading her books.

One of Delaney's favorite games is the "Where's Delaney" game where she closes the door and then opens it and gets so excited that you are there.

She just makes me laugh chug-a-lugging with her sippie cup.

Silly little thing in her new beach chair.

Miranda is sporting the 3-D glasses we got when we went to see UP. The theater had a sign saying to deposit them for recycling purposes after the end of the movie. Randy and Miranda were nice people and returned theirs. I kept mine because not only did I have to pay $3.50 more for the movie, I thought they were quite cool. Whomever is wearing them gets that Harry Carry look---"If the moon were made of cheese---would you eat it?"

Delaney loves the Simpsons already

Delaney always gets a kick out of the Father's Day card she gave Randy. Homer and Lisa make her laugh. H: "Donut?" L: "No thanks. Do you have any fruit?" H: "There's purple stuff inside. Purple is a fruit."

There's Something About Delaney

I took Delaney's hair goobie (a.k.a. rubberband) out today and it left her hair resembling Cameron Diaz's in "There's Something About Mary". It cracked me up and Delaney went right along with it.

Happy Father's Day!

The fam came over to celebrate Father's Day. What that translates to: lots of women with Randy grilling his own steak. :) I'm really kidding though. He loves all of the attention.

Nana takes a stroll with Delaney while Nutty, Grammy, and Miranda hang out. Miranda is on the phone with her daddy who is in Oregon visiting Leyla.

Delaney loves her some Naners.

"Num"

I don't know if I have mentioned it before---but Delaney's favorite word is "num". Now "num" can mean she is hungry or thirsty but she says it loudly and repeatedly if she is wanting a sip or bite of something. It is so funny. I know we should probably correct her to say "yum"---but "num" is so cute.

A sweet daddy and Delaney moment.

Delaney was princess of the pool this weekend. She loves her float and especially loves going up and down the stairs in the pool.

Grammy and Delaney had a great time at the pool this weekend.

My cousin Matt's daughter Miranda is in town for the entire summmer visiting her Grammy (a.k.a. Nutty). We are so happy she is here! She loves swimming at our pool and entertaining the doggies and Delaney. Delaney is totally infatuated with her and smiles and laughs at everything she does.

Miranda makes strange bubble creatures on her elbow with Delaney's new bubble bee.

Randy and I took Miranda to see UP this weekend. It was AMAZING!!!!! Not only was the 3-D part fabulous but the story was wonderful. I laughed a lot and cried 4 times. It was such a beautiful movie and I highly recommend it.

Delaney took a couple of steps by herself. All she needed was to be distracted by a tennis ball. Who knew? We have always said she is going to be a tennis player.

Cat Scratch Fever

This post is entitled "Cat Scratch Fever" because I swear I had it this past weekend. I wasn't feeling great Thursday night and woke up Friday with the chills, a fever, and my body aching like I had just a marathon. I didn't think it was the flu or anything, but I certainly didn't feel right. Randy and I looked up my symptoms online and came up with "Cat Scratch Fever". Now how did the scratch come about......?....About two weeks ago, Mia was trying to jump into the bed about 3 AM, and instead of grasping onto the mattress like she usually does, she grasped my arm with her claws. Well, she got lodged there for about 30 seconds and it gave me a couple of good scratches. Thank goodness I sleep like a zombie and barely noticed a thing when it was happening. Thanks to Dr. Darke and some Tylenol, I was feeling much better so I was able to enjoy my weekend.

Nana came over to babysit Friday night so Randy and I could go to "Larry's Family Reunion"---a fundraiser for the Nickelodeon theater at it's new location. Delaney is wearing her new Dora pajamas here. Randy and I did NOT get her these pajamas, because we HATE Dora. She is sooooo loud and demanding and irritating, and makes us insane. Anyhoo...Delaney loves her some Dora so we shall be tolerant. For a bit.

Larry's Reunion was a sketch show with different friends of Larry acting as family members. Here is Kim Harne singing "We Are Family". Joe played the piano during the show and Phil did his fabulous "Modern Man" monologue. There was a short documentary film during the program called "I Love Larry" which described Larry's journey with the Nickelodeon and a little bit about Larry himself. It was really fabulous and Delaney had a sweet moment during the credits with a clip of Larry holding her. The program was at the site of the new Nickelodeon theater and people had to bring family reunion type food. Well there were little smokies, tons of pimineto cheese things, lots of Fritos, and we brought a bucket of KFC labeled "Homemade chiken for Hembreee". We LOVED the show but it was about 110 degrees in there and with me having a 101 fever, we left at the intermission. The night looked like it was a great success for the Nickelodeon though!!!

If Delaney even hears the word "stomp", she whips out her right foot and gets going.

Delaney gives her duckie a hug and attempts to stomp at the same time

Delaney loves to push the lion at Grammy's house

We got a pretty funny household

Every time Delaney is in her high chair, she hooks her right foot underneath the tray. Never her left foot. I just think it is a cute little habit.

This is Randy and the dogs new game. They love jumping 5 feet in the air to get the tennis ball.

Delaney fed herself with a spoon for the first time. The food had to be placed on the spoon for her---but she did it! It is not a consistent thing, but we are working on it. Baby steps!!!

Delaney basically is playing with herself, throwing the doggie's toy, while the dogs run around the den like freakazoids. They finally get what is going on and retrieve the toy from Delaney.

SA2

Delaney hasn't been in her jumper for a long time so I thought we would give it a try. It was hilarious!! Delaney was singing along with the little song on it. On a sidenote, she also sings along when the coffee beans start grinding every morning. She is right on tune with it!

I just love this picture.

Larry's birthday was Friday and he had a party at his house to add more footage to the documentary about him. His favorite movie in the world is Sister Act 2, and he showed the movie and made running commentary throughout. Before the guests got there, the filmmaker shot Larry and Delaney totally mesmerized by the movie. Larry wanted that shot because it is true that only he and Delaney give a damn about that stupid movie. He thinks Delaney has very good taste. Larry dressed as a nun for the party. Randy and I did not stay for the movie (Thank God!) but had a great time hanging out with people beforehand.
