6 month check up

Maya's six month stats:
Height: 26 1/2 inches (79th percentile)
Weight: 16 pounds (56th percentile)
***As stated in an earlier post, Maya still is not really excited about eating solid foods. You wouldn't know this from looking at her chunky thighs but the girl just isn't that excited about food yet. The Xantac is working slightly, and then I got some advice from my good friend Liz about using a Nuk brush instead of a spoon for feeding. Maya definitely likes the Nuk brush more but she has a couple of bites and then she is done. Probably going to switch medications soon because I think food is still irritating Maya and I want her to be happy with it. God knows I am.

Now I know this is already a long video--but you should have seen how long Maya actually played with this little sticker book. Forever. She just kept turning it over and over..repeat...repeat....

*Delaney had a little virus this week. It was quite scary because her temperature went up to 105 but she tested negative for strep and the flu and Dr. Moore just said her throat was really inflamed. We had to keep her home from daycare for two days. The first day the poor thing was quite pathetic and not feeling good but the second day was spent playing and having a blast. I love that my child only gets "sick" for 24 hours. Knocking on wood for that one.

In one of the Parenting magazines I get they talked about how to make a car out of a cardboard box. On Delaney's second "sick" day home from daycare this week we made this our project. It was fun and the car lasted approximately 15 minutes and several trips around the house before it fell apart. Well worth it though!!

Sweet little Maya-Waya.

I love it when Maya gets started talking, or complaining...however you interpret it. Her little mouth just going cracks me up.

She sits!!!!!!!!!!!

My little Maya sits up by herself....briefly.

This moment is a bit bittersweet. I love that Maya can now sit up--but sad that she is getting so big already. Randy and I are not having any more children so that means the baby stage on this needs to last longer!

My growing up too fast littlest girl is now sitting up by herself.

Randy does a little Wii while Maya sits up and plays on the couch.

A little bucket of toys is all she needs. Maya really is easy to please.

Delaney with her "blanklie" playing Wii with her daddy. She is like me with the blankie thing. I just hope she gets rid of hers before she is 30. I am just kidding about that number...really...well....

Sitting up can really tire you out.

Happy St. Patty's Day 2011

The fam never gets their picture taken together so we self-timed one in the kitchen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Maya wore her doo-rag to celebrate.

Laney loo with a not so happy face.

And then with an oh so happy face with her "Just a wee bit Irish" shirt on.

Lots of accessories are required for the big St. Pat's Festival in 5 Points.

Here is the start of the 5K race to start off the festival. There were about 1700 runners there. It was awesome! Randy's brother Dave and I ran while Randy hung out with my mom and the girls at the finish line.

Grammy and the girls. Grammy loves St. Patty's Day and was dressed to impress but mostly happy to get to see her favorite girls in the world.

My entire goal that day was to beat Dave in the race because he has been bragging lately about being such a good runner and doing 6 minute miles etc...blah blah blah. Well---I must say that I beat him by a minute. He sprinted off at the start and about at mile one I passed him and said "PEACE!" and took off. Woo hoo!!!! I ended up coming in at 23:45 and was the 35th woman in out of about 900. I thought that was pretty darn good if I do so say myself.

Chewing on daddy's shot glass necklace.

The first St. Patty's Day can be quite exhausting.

For the older child too....she laid down on the ground several times. I guess the pavement looked comfy.

Wake up---it's parade time!!

Everyone went back to the house and then Grammy stayed to babysit the girls. Randy and I had not had a festive St. Patty's Day in a while so we took full advantage on taking the annual Car Bomb shot. This was Dave's first time partaking in this fun.

The weather was absolutely gourgeous.

Getting a little silly.

A little squishy kiss for my sweet baby when I got home.

***Yay!!! It was an awesome day and we all had a blast. Already looking forward to next year!!

Some Good Videos

Maya and Delaney enjoying a little pureed peas.

**Sidenote: Maya really enjoyed these peas but since this time she really hasn't enjoyed eating too much. She takes a bite of my delicious homemade food (pat on the back mommy) of squash, broccoli, sweet potatoes, or peas (that's it so far) and then really isn't too excited. A child of mine that isn't into food?? It seems weird. I am not overly concerned because she is growing and happy and isn't showing any food aversions. Let me jump ahead of myself--at her 6 month check up her pediatrician thinks she could have a little reflux so now she just started Xantac and hopefully that will help her get more excited about eating. I hope I never have Xantac. I couldn't possibly be more excited about eating than I already am.

Maya loves being silly with her daddy.

My sweet quiet child can sometimes get a little noisy.

My Girls

Maya loves to play with her sister and do raspberries.

Delaney sings a little song she learned at school.

Delaney sings "Happy and You Know It" with the last verse a little off.

Maya with her rice cereal. She has not been a big eater yet--preferring to get messy with the food and chew on the spoon.

On the other hand---THIS--is a big eater. Delaney is actually a good eater but her favorites right now are "Fruity Cheerios" ("without milk in a bowl but milk in a cup"), Uncrustables, maca and cheese and peas, and chicken. Any meat is chicken right now. Or sausge. But it could be chicken and she calls it sausages..and vice versa. You get the point.

Maya is not a very good napper. She doesn't want to miss anything and stays up for most of the day. She sleeps ALL night though so I really can't complain. When she does fall asleep during the day--it is usually passing like on the floor. I was doing laundry in her room and she was playing on the floor and I turned around and she was like this.

I am really working with Delaney on her photo skills. She definitely has my big ass stiff smile and squinty eyes during pictures so I am trying to capture her model look.

Dereon Jeans

Randy was playing with the girls outside and he knocked on the glass for me to look and what I saw was all three of them with flowers behind their ears. Of course I missed that perfect photo op but I managed to capture one of them still decorated.

I got my own flowers for a little mommy Maya pic.

Maya with her Dou bunny and Dereon outfit. For those of you who don't know---Dereon is Beyonce's clothing line. Oh yes--my child has ghetto style.

A little "Single Ladies" with Maya actually wearing Dereon jeans. Just like Beyonce says.

Nana is the baby whisperer. She always puts the girls to sleep.
