A visit with the Covingtons

Maya's favorite spot is still the swing and she loves this little giraffe puppet that Delaney actually got for Christmas. We haven't told Delaney that it was actually her present because Maya wouldn't get to hold it if we told the truth. We are definitely going to have to work on sharing with our sweet princess.

Trey and Kelli and Baby Carson came by to visit. It was so cute to see all three girls together. Carson has gotten so big since we saw her last and is just adorable. She has these big smiles that are so cute.

Random things

Both of the Roberts girls REALLY love our bed. Delaney will wander in around 3 AM and we immediately bring her back to her bedroom but if she comes in at 5 or later--we let her stay. Now--we have a double bed so it gets a bit squishy. Maya also has a fondness for our bed. When she had a cold the only way she could sleep is if she was in bed with us. In the mornings, when I come back from the gym around 6:30--this is what I usually see---both girls in bed waiting for me and Randy to get ready. It is really cute.

Poor little Maya all tuckered out asleep in her Bumbo. Maya is not the best napper---but I don't complain because she sleeps all night long. She resists taking naps because she doesn't want to miss anything and then passes out in random places like her chair here.

Isn't that the most beautiful face?

A little conversation between me and Maya.

Snow Again!!!

Maya started daycare on January 3 at the same church where Delaney is. Her teachers are very sweet (Miss Camika and Miss Camille) and they love her. She is the youngest baby and is just hugged and loved all day. There are only 4 other babies so it is a small room. They love Maya and predict her future career to be a truckdriver because they said they have never seen such a sweet baby that farts and burps as loud as her. Wow. I be proud.

Delaney and her elephant towel.

2 Delaney stories:
1) When Delaney goes to sleep at night, we let her roam from her room to the bathroom in case she needs to go potty. We usually close our bedroom but Mia (our 15 year old crotchety cat) is quite fond of Delaney and likes to go in her room. So...we have let Mia roam. Anyhoo...Delaney was put to bed at 8 and we heard her playing for a while and then it got quiet for a while. I heard her washing her hands and went to check on her. I observed some cat fur on her hands. Oh crap. I go in my bedroom and find Mia on my bed COVERED in toothpaste from head to tail. When I say covered, I mean an entire tube of toothpaste was plastered into her fur. Needless to say, Randy and I had to bathe poor Mia immediately who actually didn't mind the bath. I really wanted to discipline Delaney because she needs to know not to do that--but it was so funny I was trying not to laugh. Wish I had taken pictures.

2) The next night after the toothpaste incident, we put Delaney "to bed" again and we were tending to Maya who had a little cold. About an hour after we had brought Delaney upstairs, I went upstairs to get Maya's Tylenol from her changing table. Again---Maya's room is a room we keep closed but we had accidentally left it open. I go to get the Tylenol and realize the bottle is empty. Yep--Delaney drank it. A quick call to Poison Control later---and everything was fine. They said because it was infant Tylenol that she might just get a stomach ache. Sigh....We now make SURE that every door/cabinet/box/opening has a lock on it.

We got snow AGAIN!!! This time, our little "blizzard" closed our schools for a week. Sounds crazy, but true. I don't remember how many inches but it was definitely a lot of snow.

Snow Bunny

We let Tyson and Olive loose in the street so they could frolic in the snow.

My snowboard attempt.

My first attempt on a snowboard on our street ended in a little fall. I almost did a split which hurt slightly. Fun though!

Here is my second attempt. Slow and steady. I love how Delaney is saying "Mommy too slow" in the background. She is already embarressed by my lack of cool.

Delaney has become obsessed with Cheerios products. She could eat Cheerios for all meals and snacks with Fruity Cheerios being the frontrunner out of the many ones to choose from.

Delaney side note: Her new favorite line when she is being two and we are trying to get her to do something she doesn't want to do..."I'm so mad for you"--meaning 'I'm so mad at you'. Hee hee.

Our little snowman.

I have noticed something during this most recent snow. You know when you come in from the snow and pull off your pants/coat and you are really cold and then it feels warm inside and you pt on sweatpants and get comfy? That feeling?? It so reminds me of all the Christmas vacations I had at my Grandma and Grandpa's house in Salt Lake City. I would feel like that when I came in from skiing or playing in the snow. It is such a nice feeling and reminded me of really wonderful times in my life.

I just love when Maya makes those sweet faces. Her new favorite thing is to "stand up". She loves having her hands held and just rocking back and forth with that little hand bobbling.

Randy does a game of banging his head into the door as Delaney slams it and Maya is just cracking up laughing. Poor Randy--he will be hurting himself his whole life to entertain his girls.

A little potty reading time before bed. I love the way Delaney pronounces all of the rhyming animals in this book so I just had to capture it.

The Annual Roberts/Crosby New Years Vacation

For the past 3 years, we have spent New Years with our friends English and Steve Crosby and their kids Drew (5) and Eliza (4). Maya was the newest member to this annual fun. We rented a fabulous beach house at Folly Beach that was across the street from the beach. Our house was on the marsh and had a great back yard and plenty of space including separate dens which meant one for the adults and one for the kids. It was perfect.

Our first night was game night and we all got a little silly---definitely an annual tradition.

The next day, even though it was a little cold---English and I took the kids to the beach. It was windy but we had a nice walk and the kids were out there for about a minute before the cold complaints started.

Little D was such a trooper. When I went to get her up this morning---there was vomit ALL over her bed and she was looking sad. Poor thing must have thrown up in the middle of the night and then slept in it. We weren't sure what was wrong---if she had eaten too late the night before (9 PM), had too many cookies (about 4,000) or she had a stomach bug. It turned out to be the last one. She was fine by the end of the day---just lethargic and sad but the bug definitely traveled. More on this later....

Maya came to the beach with us too and she was definitely snuggled up in her new Christmas coat in the Baby Bjorn.

Me and Miss Smiley

Eliza lounges.

Cute little Drew.

Sideways Maya. Check out those thighs...they have so many rolls. I love them.

Daddy and his sweetie.

I brought the super "cool" shades I got for Christmas. Maya was the first to try them on.

Randy followed suit...

...then Delaney..

....then me..

...then Steve...

...then English.

All 3 older kids had Toy Story pajamas so they wore them while watching a movie.

Yo yo Maya..what up sleepy girl!!

Cute...

...not so cute.

A moment of silliness with the bottle opener.

Maya has been trying to place her entire fist in her mouth. This was basically the last time Randy felt good on this trip. Sad to say....a couple of hours after this pic was taken he caught the stomach bug. Unlike Delaney who recovered after one day---poor Randy's illness lingered.

English and I took the kids (minus Maya) down to the Folly shops to do a little shopping. This swing outside a shop was a big hit for Delaney. Drew and Eliza ended up with t-shirts and Delaney got a rubber squeaky dolphin toy.

Delaney found Drew and Eliza's flashlight toys and put both on her head to do a little spelunking.

On New Years Eve it was the big football game---meaning USC vs FSU. Maya and I wore our FSU gear and Delaney played with her FSU cheerleader bear. I was really obnoxious. FSU ended up winning (Woo hoo!!!!!). English, Steve, and I ate about four thousand oysters that Steve put in the pot and shrimp, dips, etc....Poor Randy couldn't eat a thing. It was a fun night despite the fact that Randy couldn't participate except for watching football.

Steve and English show their Gamcock spirit even though the team were big 'ol losers. Hee hee. I normally would cheer for USC but never against the Noles.

We let the kids ring in the New Year around 9. I brought them hats, tiaras, and blowers.

Delaney and the rest of the Roberts/Crosby clan celebrate the New Year at the beach. Delaney was hilarious with her blower---she kept humming into it instead of blowing it. Good times.

On New Years day the weather was gourgeous. We definitely took advantage and spent most of the day outside.

Maya got snuggly on the beach.

Building sand castles..

I love pics of Randy and Delaney like this. Capturing the sweet moments.

Steve entertained Eliza and Delaney with a game while Randy and I played Bocci.

Looking for seashells..

Delaney was sooo entertained on the car trip by her new Princess DVD player from Bubba and Nonna. She watched her new Barbie movie and didn't make a peep. She turns zombified when watching a movie. A bomb could go off in front of her and she wouldn't even blink.

Here's to another successful Roberts/Crosby vacation! (minus a little sickness). I will cross my fingers that there will be no illness next year because other than that--it was a wonderful vacation!
Happy New Year!!!!!!
