SUMPS Christmas Pageant 2013

Maya started a new preschool this fall at Shandon United Methodist Church. It is one of the THE preschools to get into....that just made me vomit a little to write that. Anyway----I was a little nervous about her going there because I was worried I wouldn't get along with other moms, kids would be too similar, etc...but we LOVE it! The families are great and there is a bigger diversity of kids in Maya's class here than her last preschool! It is a lot of stay at home moms but then it is also a lot of moms like me who work part time. The preschool is definitely more religious than her last so it cracks me up that not only Maya is there but her BFF Sandy whose mom Leila and I are close friends. Leila and her family are Jewish so it is kind of funny that these two little girls go to a little Christian preschool. The girls absolutely love it though. Their Christmas pageant consisted of the 3's and 4's classes all dressed like angels and the kindergarten class dressed in individual parts as the Nativity scene. They sang five different songs....three of which I had never heard before. Maya practiced a lot at home before the big show and was really excited. I could tell she was a little nervous before it started because she kept waving at me frantically  and sticking her tongue out. Her teacher during the program kept telling her to put her tongue in her mouth. It was an adorable performance and I was so proud of my little munchkin.

I was not supposed to take videos during the performance because the music teacher said it wouldn't be "reverent". Well reverent my butt. I want to document everything from my child's life so I took the videos anyway. If there are some blurred spots or blackouts it is because I was hiding my camera from the music teacher because I was scared to get caught. I am twelve.

Somewhat singing and doing the hand stuff at song number one during the SUMPS Christmas Pageant. Maya is the short little sweet munchkin in the front. A little more participation here. Maya sits at the beginning of this one until her teacher Mrs. Ashley on the floor is signaling for her to stand up. I am surprised she sat at the beginning of this one because this is definitely a favorite to sing quite often at home. This one is the best. Maya is singing a song about "Mary and Joseph" but her interpretation is "Mary and Jofas", and then the song says "new little baby boy" with her interpretation as "baby born". She sings this ALL the time. There were obviously some enthusiastic kids singing this "Go Tell It On the Mountain". I love Maya's little tongue at the end.
