Delaney's Disco Dance Party

The opening of the presents from Grammy for Delaney's birthday.

The first of many disco balls!!

And they make her oh so happy.

We love Playmobil!!

Delaney's first pair of her own "heel halls" as she calls them. Now she can stop wearing mine around the house---even though she walks in them better than I do.

A little change into some princess clothes and then trying out Laney in her wheelchair.

Delaney's Disco Dance 6th Birthday Party is here! She had it at Palmetto Performing Arts which is where both girls take dance. Miss Kristi, the owner, was the girls' former dance teacher through Creative Movement and Dance which they received at their old preschool. Delaney adores Miss Kristi and she let us rent the facility for an hour and a half to have her party!

Delaney requested a disco ball cake. I honestly don't know where this fascination with disco balls came from but I think it's pretty cool. The cake was awesome but a little boring without flowers on the sides. Bad call on my part but that's okay. It was delicious!!! In case you can't read it it says "Happy 6th Birthday Delaney Dancing Queen".

Miss Kristi and my mom setting up for the party.

The craft tables where the kids are going to make their own disco balls with sequins and push pins into styrofoam balls. Thank you so much Kristi for the idea!!!

Maya and Morgan

The kids were going a little koo-koo before the craft and it is amazing when you put something in front of them to do how quiet it gets. I love how the boys were very involved in the crafts too.

Kristi led the kids in a half hour dance class. She said initially she was going to do more of a "real" dance class but seeing the high activity level of the group she switched it up to more of a gymnastics class with kids doing individual tricks. I think that was a great idea because then the boys were definitely entertained too.

Some stretches at the beginning.

Lining up to do some tumbling and jumping.

It's somersault time!!! Maya shows off her somersaults and then Abby comes along a few kids later and does some really super fast ones!
Bringing in a trampoline is always fun and Maya gets ready to go.

The birthday girl getting ready to do the trampoline.

Charlie on the trampoline. Charlie, by the way, is Delaney's "boyfriend", or that is what she calls him. She is completely goo-goo over him and I think Charlie is a little goo-goo back. They giggle back and forth at each other and basically don't communicate at all so I think it's love. He is really cute though. I approve.

Freeze dance during Delaney's disco dance party with her theme song "Dancing Queen" playing. It was so awesome how much the boys loved this. I was worried they wouldn't get into the party but they had a blast!
The free dance and freeze dance portion of the class. The kids loved this part, and Delaney got to pick a song to play during it non-stop so she picked "Dancing Queen" by ABBA of course. The kids danced and danced and when the music stopped they had to freeze. It was hysterical to watch. They then made a game out of it with people having to go out if they kept dancing and then they were judges for the rest.

Last little bit on the mat with the kids getting to pick what they wanted to do. Here is Merritt.

James Ryan

Maya---and sidenote on my little one---she really held her own with all of the big kids. She danced and tumbled and just had a ball.

Libbie

Sweet Sarah Beth did ballet.

Charlie

The singing of the birthday song.
Cake time!!!!

How many blonds can you get in front of a cake??

Me first!!!! And James Ryan had four pieces.

Yum!!!!

Maya sat and ate for a long time.

Miss Kristi and Delaney. Delaney couldn't decide on what dance to take this fall and I think she initially was straying away from ballet because she wanted Kristi to teach her. She LOVES Kristi.

I'm 6!!!!!!!!! Two hands now!!!

Opening presents from friends at home.

Maya loved trying on some of Delaney's new accessories.

Another successful birthday party!!!!! I think my birthday girl had a blast and everyone had a good time. I am always so nervous before they start but I think this one was great---everything from the location, snacks, craft, and especially the dance class turned out perfect. Delaney has made some truly special friends in both her old preschool and kindergarten and I am so glad so many of them could join her on this special day.
