Day 2---Hollywood Studios! With autograph books in hand the girls ran into their favorite character again---Minnie Mouse. |
We had been told to sign Delaney up immediately for the Jedi training academy where you could fight Darth Vader. Now we had talked about this moment for months when planning this trip and Delaney was super pumped up until she had to sit with the other child Jedi masters and listen to directions and don the robe. She got really scared and didn't want to do it. |
I kept telling her that it wasn't real and she would love doing it. I feel bad for pressuring her but I knew that she would have fun. She really was one of the youngest kids at her show---they only pick 12 per show. Delaney had told me a few weeks prior that she knew Darth Vader was an actor and she wasn't nervous she was going to die. After a few tears and hugs she said she would do it. |
The Jedi trainees lined up to listen to their commands. |
The Jedi master! |
Delaney and the other Jedi listening to instructions. |
They were all given light sabers and told what to do when Darth Vader comes out. |
Delaney learns the Jedi moves at the Jedi Training Academy at Hollywood Studios.
It was a really awesome show with hysterical storm troopers that would get pissed at you when you would cheer for the Jedi and point at their eyes and then point at you. They had me singled out several times. |
This Jedi assistant led the kids out one by one so they could "fight" Darth Vader which consisted of the kid reenacting the moves that the Jedi Master had taught them several minutes ago. It was the same moves each time against Darth Vader with the child always winning. Sweet little Delaney was too scared to do it but watched intently from the corner. |
Darth Vader versus the Jedi Master |
The Jedi master and Darth Vader fight the final battle while the Jedi trainees look on. Delaney continues to make sure her light saber is working while watching nervously from the back corner.
The Jedi Master thanked all of the kids and they all got certificates. |
When it was over, Delaney got a little sad that she didn't do it. In hindsight, it would have probably been best to have her watch the show first and then sign her up to do it but we were so nervous she wouldn't get in! I definitely felt bad about it but at the end of the day when I asked her about her favorite parts of Hollywood Studios she said she loved being a Jedi. That's my girl. |
Delaney instantly cheered up when we rode Star Tours next and got these super cool 3-D glasses to wear. |
bbb |
The Star Wars gift shop was probably one of the best ones we went to. Delaney picked out little light saber keychains for her and Maya and she is using hers here to fight Yoda at the counter. There were many fabulous shirts and accessories there including Mr. Potato Heads (Luke Spudwalker, etc...), shirts with Storm Troopers and guns with flags that said "pew pew", and every Disney friend out there dressed as someone from Star Wars including a fabulous Miss Piggy Princess Leia. |
Me and Oprah statue |
Waiting for the Toy Story ride. This was the only ride during our entire trip that we had to do a Fast Pass for and I am glad we did. The wait got very long and we showed right up and boarded. |
The ride is fairly new and was AWESOME where you sit by someone in a car and you have little guns that shoot out like you are in a shooting gallery. The car spins you around to different scenes and you keep shooting at the targets. Mom and Maya kicked my butt on this one! |
Maya has this funny little walk of putting her hands behind her back. She did it a lot in Disney like she was on a mission. |
We told the girls they could each pick out a souvenir and Delaney opted for the Jasmine fancy gloves and purse. |
The animals at Disney are just as friendly as all the staff. It is almost surreal. |
My sweet little Star Wars girl. |
Hollywood Studios had cool accessories everywhere you turned that made that park so awesome and unique. Maya took a liking to this old car/bench. |
Tower of Terror with spooky cloud lingering on top. I promised Randy that I would ride something "big" with him and this just happened to be the one. I had gone on it about 10 years ago and remembered it being scary but I am also much more of a wimp now than I was. It just went up and down, rising and falling, rising and falling, with me with my eyes shut just saying "ohmygodohmygodohmygod". Randy loved it. :) |
Getting ready for Beauty and the Beast---Live on Stage!!!! |
It was a great show with two girls quite ecstatic about catching a glimpse at a real Broadway musical. They loved it!!! |
You can't go to Disney without getting a Mickey ice cream pop. |
Some Monsters Inc topiaries. |
More posing at the Dalmatians building at our resort. |
Couldn't resist this one. |
On our way to dinner we ran into this incredible Dance Party going on at the main outdoor stage at Hollywood Studios. A lot of characters were there and it was awesome!!!! Grammy really bonded with Tweedledee/dum. |
Grammy and Tweedledee were bonded dancing for a while.
Delaney hasn't warmed up enough to the dance party idea to dance with Pinocchio.
The Queen of Hearts |
Delaney, still a little unsure about dancing, even with that jammin' Genie.
Minnie was definitely the star character for the girls so far. |
Delaney finally gets into the dancing spirit with Minnie Mouse.
Poor Maya missed the whole dance party. That's what having too much fun and no napping earlier will do to you. |
Waiting to eat at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. |
This restaurant was super cool. It looked like an old timey 50's cafe with the waitresses older women who would yell at you if you placed your elbows on the table, talked on your cell phone, etc... |
Dinner was so yummy with comfort food like meatloaf and fried chicken. And one thing about Disney food---not only is all of it delicious but the portions are huge. There were no worries about Maya not eating anything. Because she got into Disney free because she is two, she didn't get a meal plan. Well there was always more than enough and a dessert for each one of the rest of us. My dessert here was this huge bowl of ice cream with m n m's, crunch n munch, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a cherry on it. |
After dinner, Maya was ready to party and dance.
Delaney and Maya go cray cray dancing at the Hollywood Studios dance party.
While Randy and I headed towards the Tower of Terror, the girls Hoked Pokied it up at the Dance Party with Grammy.
The little party animal didn't want to go home at the end of the night!!! I think Hollywood Studios really won us over as our favorite park. Love love loved it!!!! |
