Randy and Nutty's Birthday

Randy is building a new cabinet in our kitchen so we can have more storage space. He plans on taking out a horizontal cabinet so we can see into the den more but we didn't want to lose the cabinets so he is building this one. It will look just like the one to the right of me in the picture. Right now it is Delaney's "stage" and she will probably go into withdrawal when it becomes a functional storage space.

I surprised Randy for his birthday this year and took him to Embassy Suites for the night. They had a manger's reception of free cocktails from 5:30-7:30 and we took full advantage of that. Because their "heavy snacks" turned out to be Chex Mix and chips and salsa, thank goodness I had made a reservation at the Melting Pot for later that night. We were planning on doing chocolate fondue but due to the lack of snacking at the reception, we got cheese fondue instead. We had such a good night!

The fam went to Harpers to celebrate Randy and Nutty's birthday and also to feast heavily before Yom Kippur.

Delaney was not the happiest camper at dinner but it turns out she was not feeling well because I had to pick her up early from Daycare the next day. She had a low grade fever and hives. It turns out the poor dear has allergies. She only had Benadryl for a few days and is now completely better!

Delaney loves on her Grammy. My mom does not think she is a superstar with the glasses, but is actually wearing them because she just had eye surgery. She looks wonderful underneath the big bug glasses!

I try to get in on the lovin' time.

Suzapalooza 2009

The Race for the Cure in Greenville was one of the best times ever. Team Suzapalooza was honoring our friend Suzannah Eleazer who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has been through a lot, but has come out looking gourgeous with her short hair and her new hobby as a runner! Greenville was cooler on race morning, and there was a light sprinkle. Larry and I drove up that morning and got to ride on a school bus for a minute which was exciting. We met up with Team Suzapalooza which consisted of Suzannah's friends and family. Lots of friends were old faces from the past and I was so glad to see them. The course was set on the CU-ICAR campus and it was a great race course with smooth roads. The race was set up with Competitive Racers in the front, then other runners, then walkers. There was a turn-around in the race around Mile 2 and that allowed the people in the front to really see the waves of people behind them. My favorite moment of the day was when I was running and I got to give a high five to Suzianners as we passed each other. That one small moment meant the world to me because it felt so good to see her running beside me. It was a magical day full of love and inspiration. I will never forget it.

I love you Suzianners!! This pic is so fabulous. Caroline's shirt is too that says "Fight Like a Girl"

Check out these fabulous pics that Amy got from the Suzapalooza run this weekend. It was the Race for the Cure in Greenville honoring one of my oldest friends, Suzannah Eleazer. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen---about 5,000 people celebrating breast cancer survivors and raising money to find a cure. It was wonderful getting together with old friends and celebrating my dear sweet Suzianners.

Random Shots of the Week

Delaney had her school pictures this week. We thought a little red number would be the most stylish. Thankfully her first "injury", which happened this week, wasn't too bad and her bangs would cover it. Delaney sort of fell down the stairs this week. She thinks she can just walk down the stairs and she started tumbling down our big staircase at home and managed to catch herself on the 4th step by Go-go-gadgeting her arms and legs and stopping her fall. She ended up with a small bruise/lump over her right eyebrow. Poor little bruiser.

Even though Delaney looks calm in this picture, Miss Kamika reports that Delaney was a "hot mess" during picture time. They had her positioned on the toy horse, ready for the picture, and then Libbie (a.k.a. "Bibbie") started crying which caused Delaney to start crying and when they tried to remove her from the horse she had a temper tantrum. There was no report on how Round 2 went in picture taking attempts. We shall see.

Are these the cutest twins ever or what? These are Delaney's friends, Rawlins and Price, in her classroom. Their mom Christy actually went to high school with me and was in the grade ahead of me. She is a fraternal twin with a brother named Chad---and then she ended up having twins. They are so cute. Price is totally obsessed with sweeping. I love it.

The sleepy face

Delaney and I went to a different park this week and it was fabulous. It was huge with lots of equipment for her and perfect toddler swings that she absolutely loved.

The Greek Festival

It is time once again for the annual Greek Festival. We didn't capture any pictures of the delicious food we ate: shimp and manestra, baked chicken, souvlaki, greek doughnuts, etc....but we did capture the slide and bounce zone.
Delaney loved the slide. I was a little nervous about her getting on it because she was definitely the youngest one there, but she was a tough little cookie and clapped for herself at the bottom each time.

Delaney enjoyed the bounce zone. She wouldn't let go of my hands at first but then bounced herself silly.

Waffles and Tennis

Randy and I are putting on our tennis shoes again...literally. I started taking lessons right before I got pregnant, and then continued for a little while, and the rest is history. Basically I haven't had a lesson in a while until this past week when I started it up again. I am a little rusty because I haven't played in a while except for the occasional Sunday with Randy but I am excited to be starting again. Randy has been playing in a league for a while. He took the summer off but he starts up again soon. Delaney loves playing with the rackets. In these pics, she is modeling the racket and half of her breakfast waffle.

Posing on the Stairs Round 2

Yes---here we go again. This time in pajamas. Sorry about the piano bench in the way. Delaney's teacher at daycare says that she thinks Delaney will be a future interior decorator because she rearranges the entire classroom every day. She also does this at home. The piano bench, breakfast table chairs, etc....are moved each day to a new location of her liking.

Posing on the Stairs

The child who used to not like the camera now loves it. Her new favorite is to pose on the stairs. Here she is in various modeling stances.
