And I Love Her....

One of Delaney's favorite activities is to lie on her activity mat and stare at the giraffe and elephant. I either sing to her or we listen to Rockabye Baby U2 or Beatles CD's. Delaney much prefers those CD's over me singing. Tyson enjoys these times as well. If Olive were more assertive you would see her head in the pic but she is hanging out in the background.
Another one of Delaney's favorite activities is to lie on her back on the bed and stare up. What she is staring at is beyond me but I would like to think it is something really fabulous, not just the ceiling fan with big dust clumps.
Delaney and I take long walks every day and this is the adorable face I get to look at on our travels. She appears to take these walks very seriously.

Delaney's First bath

Delaney will be so pissed at me when she's older for this one. I had to do it though. It's a little long so only if you're really interested watch it. I think it's adorable. She did really well. Should have videotaped the second bath. She really loved that one. We definitely have a water baby.

Delaney on couch

Delaney and Fam on Memorial Day

Delaney is keepin it real on her first holiday. She's regulatin' the peeps coming in and out of the Roberts crib. I wouldn't mess with her, would you?

The Roberts family had a fabulous Memorial Day at our house. Dave, Mandi, Davis, and Morgan all came over to the pool to swim. Randy and Davis "dive" off the side together.

Mandi and I work on our tans while Davis strikes a pose.

Delaney is 2 weeks old today

Time is flying by so fast. I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since Delaney was born. Our days go by quickly but honestly I can't really tell you what we do. Randy asks when he gets home from work and I have several things to report, such as "took a walk", "played on activity mat" but I don't know what consumes the rest of the day. It's probably the large amount of eating and pooping but I also think it's that I am so mesmerized by her it takes me 20 minutes to do anything. My fast paced OCD world has certainly slowed down. Thank you Delaney---I needed it!!

Delaney is now much more aware of things and loves to look at herself in the mirror. She also loves to go outside and look at trees. We did have "Olive the Nature Dog"....now we have "Delaney the Nature Child" as well. Watch out Rick Flair.

Delaney and some various Aunties

Delaney and Mia discuss their parents. Mia: "I've noticed that the tall cute one helps out with our poop and the shorter one with the fuzzy hair dresses us in outfits. Neither of them can sing worth a damn." Delaney: "I like to dance when they sing, especially "Hooked on a Feeling". Mia: "At least you don't have to wear your initial around your neck. Thank God it's connected to a rhinestone, I mean diamond, collar so I maintain some sort of class."

Auntie Monica bonds with Delaney.

Auntie Steph meets Delaney for the first time. She was wearing her running shoes so I had to watch her carefully to make sure she wasn't going to steal my baby. Auntie Becky was not pictured because she had a tad bit of a cold.

My nickname growing up was Sparkle Darkle, and now just shortened to Sparkle. Delaney will be Sparkle Jr. as captured in her fab-o onesie made by her Auntie Kimmie.

A Day in the Life

Delaney contemplates world peace and who will get kicked off of American Idol.

Delaney and her first ice cream cone. I am making sure this picture is taken in a hurry because I know she is faking being asleep and her little hand is going to snatch away my Maui Brownie Madness ice cream cone.

Our next model is Delaney Roberts, making her debut in this season's Ralph Lauren Polo onesie and the always hip Chucks Converse Allstars. Just call her "diva".

Delaney's First Pool Day---a.k.a. "The girl in the bubble"

Tyson carefully guards Delaney while she rests in her pool chair. Best damn $60 I ever spent. She likes the vibration feature and the truly annoying music with no off button that goes for 13 minute spans. Oops! Did the batteries run out???? Oh well.

Happy Mother's Day---5-11-08

Here we have 4 generations plus a Nutty. I call it "lotta hair on one couch".

Delaney was exhausted after playing with her Nutty, Nana, and Gigi. She decided to recline in a new blanket made by Auntie Jessica from Charlotte.

Delaney goes home--5-10-08

The new parents with their bundle of joy hit the road.
Delaney and her momma pause for a photo op upon arrival.

Delaney meets her new best friends---Olive and Tyson. We do not have a great pic of them licking her head but it did happen. Often. Delaney loves it.

Delaney is one day old!!!!! 5-09-08

Our niece and nephew, Morgan and Davis, meet their new cousin.
Our sweet little cross-eyed daughter. This will go away soon but for now it makes for excellent photo ops.
OMG. She's so sweet.

Delaney's First Day 5-08-08

Delaney was born at 4:00 this morning and we had visitors all day. We loved seeing everyone but as you can see from this picture---we were really tired. Poor Randy was sleeping while Delaney was partying in his lap.

Larry and Joe were the last visitors on Delaney's birthday. They loved meeting their great-goddaughter.

OK---me being pissy actually worked for once---5-07-08 to 5-08-08

Ok. From the last post you know that I was impatiently sitting at work waiting to go into labor. Well----I left work that day and went to do therapy at a child's house. After 5 minutes of working with him, I was sitting on the floor and all of a sudden, my water broke. I didn't know what it was at first---I actually thought I might have peed on myself even though that hadn't happened since I was little. After the huge gush of water that happened next, I knew it was my water breaking. The mom of the child offered to take me to the hospital (thanks for everything Betsy!!!!!) but since I was close to home, I met Randy at our house and we left for the hospital together.

Me and Randy waiting for the labor to start

The labor was actually fine--we watched Jason get kicked off of American Idol--FINALLY!!!! The nurse asked me if I wanted an epidural yet. I heroically said "no" and it wasn't 20 minutes before I was in the most agonizing pain of my life. I think I said "Please help me" 5000 times which was the only thing I could get out of my mouth. At least it wasn't the f-bombs that were predicted. After the epidural, it was smooth sailing. Smooth sailing that is, until the 2 hours of pushing. That wasn't painful, but it was very exhasuting. At 4:00 AM on May 8, Delaney Jeanne entered the world. Randy cut the cord and my mom took a million pictures documenting the event. My crotch was seen by the entire Baptist Hospital but I could care less. My little girl was here and it was the most amazing thing that has ever happened.

Mom holding Delaney just about ten minutes after birth. Mom has picked her grandma name to be "Gigi". It is sooooo much better than the other options: Diva (eliminated immediately), Bubby, Yaya, and Fifi.

Me and Delaney. I don't think I have ever smiled bigger in my life.

Delaney at her first weighing. Randy got to be there for all of this. She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces at birth and was 20 inches long. Other neat observations: cone head (gone already), the most perfect nose in the world, and the biggest feet in the world. Her little, I mean big footprints, wouldn't even fit inside the boxes on the little keepsake page they gave us.

Soooooo----my crankiness paid off. Delaney was polite and punctual and came right on time. What a perfect child. I couldn't ask for anything more. I love her so much.

I'm allowed to pout

This is me sitting at work pouting because I am still at work and not at the hospital, home, etc....

My co-workers are astonished that I am still here and frankly so am I. I know the due date is tomorrow but I am getting quite cranky.

I am a firm believer in punctuality and this little missie is going to become one of my pet peeves if she is late.

Pout, pout, whine, whine.

Larry and Joe's (Birth) Day Shower for Delaney 4-20-08

The shower was wonderful. It was a gourgeous day in Larry and Joe's backyard and we all had a great time. Larry had said no presents but some people ignored him like they usually do. We didn't do any of the pink crap though, per his request. Randy and I actually both wore blue since Larry is STILL insisting that Delaney is a boy. We told him that the ultrasound pictures definitely prove she is a girl but I guess until she is here he won't believe us.

Mom and Annie. I think she is preparing to be a grandmother and using Annie as a prop.

Juliet and Becky

Juliet Becky and Monica. I was allowed one glass of wine. You see my glass is the biggest.
