Random February fun

Kel-Z, Rick, and Jackson came to visit and all of us plus my girls, minus poor Randy who was working, enjoyed a yummy breakfast at the Original Pancake House. Maya tore up her chocolate chip pancakes.

Poor little Maya is dragged with me every day to go pick up Delaney. Most days she is happy and excited but for some reason she was pouty this day. Thought I would capture the sad moment.

Delaney is really reading now--and I couldn't be prouder. Her favorite books are the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems and she loves this one especially "We Are In a Book". Every three weeks when we go to the library we check out another Elephant and Piggie book.
I was pulling out the girls bathing suits in preparation for summer----yes I know it's February----and Maya found this one with some stylish leggings underneath. Obviously my girls aren't quite ready to dress themselves yet because this is what happens.

New short hair cuts! Maya's short do was not planned. When she was getting her hair cut by Alaysia, Alaysia called me over and asked if Maya had cut her hair. I said no and then asked Maya and she said no. I asked her if someone at school had done it and she said no. I asked if her sister did it and she said no. But there was a big chunk missing in the back and I didn't notice because she had such long hair and it was always going one way or the other. Alaysia cut it short to balance it out. When we got home I took Delaney aside and asked her if she did it. She said, "You're going to be mad" and I said no because it was over with. She confessed to doing it and I had the talk with her about not cutting anyone or anything's hair. I then remembered about a month ago when I walked into her room and she was sitting with scissors and Barbies. There was a chunk of blond hair on the floor. I told her not to cut Barbie's hair because it wouldn't grow back. I then tried to find the Barbie with the missing hair and it was nowhere to be found. Of course not---because it wasn't Barbie hair it was Maya hair.

Delaney kindergarten field trip to EdVenture. I never miss a field trip with my girls. I love my job that it allows me to do that.

Bingo night at Brennen. It was a blast with pizza and lemonade and lots of Bingo games. The kids were interested for a while and then lost interest. The mom, on the other hand, were way competitive and had lots of cards and were trying to smile when someone called out Bingo but really we were pissed. Some Gamecock football players came to help out with the game and we of course attacked them to get a photo. I love Delaney's school.

Valentines Day and lots of visitors

My valentines girl with her Hersheys chocolate heart. That is her favorite candy.

My other valentine with her Kit Kat heart. That is her favorite candy.

Maya showing off her new princess placemat. They are so easy to please at this age. Hope it stays that way!

Scooting in the snow.,

Double bows and some cowboy boots and a pancake.

BFF's Sandy and Maya. They are quite funny though----too similar. They love each other and then fight like cats and dogs. I have actually had a phone call from Mrs. Ashley their teacher about them. They have to be separated often and Maya, who likes to be alone a lot, sometimes gets irritated with Sandy being clingy and is mean to her. Such three year old drama. They aren't going to be in the same fours preschool class in the fall because they need to be separated so they will branch out more. Sad but probably needs to happen. Same school still though so they will see each other.

Delaney's new disciplinary rainbow ticket system I made. She gets 3 tickets for every week day and five tickets for the weekend. With every infraction (rudeness, not listening, etc...) she loses a ticket and goes to her room for fifteen minutes. If she loses all 3 or 5, she is in her room for the rest of the day. If she makes it all day without losing any tickets she gets to color something on her color chart to eventually earn prizes. As I am writing this a month later this has truly been the only successful disciplinary venture we have made with Delaney. She has so far earned one prize, a new game for her Leappad, and has never spent the rest of the day in her room even though she has been close. She usually loses only one ticket each day and that is getting less and less. She shapes up after that first ticket.

Miranda is here!!! Miranda spent a lot of time with us this week and the girls LOVED having her here. Miranda also came to work with me several days because she thinks she wants to be an OT. She loved that I just playing with kids and basically did "nothing". Yep---I have a good job. The girls were fascinated with Miranda's braces and basically want to be teenagers now to be just like her. :)

Delaney and Jackson show off some dance moves.

Snowpacolypse Part 2

Came home one day to find that Olive had destroyed a pillow on our porch. Lovely. What makes this interesting is that a couple of months ago we babysat Dave's puppy Ember (that Maya calls "Member") and she chewed up a pillow on the porch. Ever since then Olive has been chewing everything in sight. She is definitely a follower. Thank you Member for teaching her this fabulous skill.
Play date with Abby!!!! The girls were dressed up about five minutes in.

Different princess dresses and now playing Target and McDonalds.

Snow again!!!!!! This was definitely the big one. Check out our street! Are we in Columbia SC????

The puppies had a great time running up and down the street and we didn't even bother putting on leashes because there were definitely no people or cars out.

Eating more snow

Snowboarding down the street

Our little construction guy snowman. The girls were doing a little Christmas Story tongue on him.

We walked down our friends house and James Ryan and Delaney enjoyed some good hot chocolate.

100th day of school and some dancing girls

The kindergarten classes at Brennen did a cute thing for the 100th day of school---a fashion show! They each had to design a specific article of clothing with 100 items. This fashion show was actually supposed to be last week but the snow days got in the way. The kids came on the stage one at a time while Mrs. Painter announced their name and what they were wearing. It was really cute!
Delaney in the 100th day of school fashion show with her Burger King crown decorated with 100 candy hearts. She is the queen of hearts!!!!

My little Burger Queen of Hearts

Delaney and her friend Sally with her cute skirt made of 100 ribbons.

The little ones boogie down to Kesha.
I  seriously cannot stop the girls from stripping down and dancing. It is just what they do and it makes them happy. What makes me a little concerned is how much they love Kesha and how Delaney learns her dance moves. Is she 21 or 5?? Little Maya just tries to keep up. They make me laugh. :)

Delaney's assignment she did in class obviously at the beginning of the year: to write and draw about their goal for the year. Delaney's states "my goal for 2014 is to learn to skateboard:.
Really????? Where in the world did that come from???
